Title: Java Sound Synthesizer Occasionally Hangs
On Mac OS X 10.7 or above, using the Apple-supplied Java 1.6, the Java Sound Synthesizer occasionally hangs, leaving sound playing.
Cause Of Problem:
Disconnect the keyboard (or player) from the synthesizer (specify MIDI output device (or playback device) as “none”) to stop it. Then re-connect it to the Java Sound Synthesizer, and it will again work for awhile.
You can avoid this problem by playing SimpleSynth, the AU Lab synthesizer, or the GarageBand or MainStage software synthesizer plug-ins instead. See the “Improving Your Macintosh System” documentation for instructions on how to do this.
Fix Available (in version):
No – It's a problem with Apple's Java Sound Synthesizer on the 64-bit versions of Mac OS X.
